bloghints.com continuation - recommended

This post is in continuation to my previous post on bloghints.
They responded to my email very fast, they solved the problem and were nice and kind, here is a small quotation from our correspondence:

We have changed a few submission parameters making it easier for people to submit their blogs. This had been one cause of the problem. Secondly, we have changed a section of problematic code that detects reciprocal links. We believe these have fixed the issue, as we are no longer able to replicate the error you and others encountered. If you have any further problems or suggestions for improvement, feel free to contact me.

I must point out that Michael from the customer support team was very professional.

bloghints.com

OK, now that I learned how to easily post a reciprocal link not from the homepage I will try to continue reviewing blog directories more often.
To tell you the truth, I was a bit hesitant to continue reviewing directories once my homepage got PR3. The reason is because I didn't wan to link to directories from a PR3 page and get a reciprocal link from a PR0 page.

Anyway, let's review bloghints.com (click on "read more" at the bottom of this post to see their button)

I was surprised to see that it will take them 30 business days to review and approve my blog! Obviously in the meantime they get a one month link to their directory from my blog for free. I also wonder how many people submit their blog and forget to check one month later if their blog was added to bloghints or not... I will check it and update this post in 30 days. This is what they write:
"A reciprocal link is required to your blog's homepage is required. Submissions without a reciprocal link will be rejected.
Reciprocal Blogs will be approved within 30 business days"

Also, it says that my link will be live for 1 year only... after that I'll have to resubmit. You should take that into consideration if you are thinking to submit your blog on bloghints.

UPDATE 1:
it looks like it's going to take me more time than what I thought... there is an error message on bloghints and I can't submit my blog... here is the message I get:
Warning: Smarty error: validate: validator id 'v_LINK_TYPE' is not registered. in /home/bloghint/public_html/libs/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

I will write them and notify them of the mistake... we'll see what they say.

Recommendation: Good

Give reciprocal links from a PR 0 page

I found a new feature in blogger (jump break in HTML)that will enable me to continue reviewing blog directories without linking to them from my blog's homepage, which has a higher page rank.

This creates a "read more" link that directs to another page (with lower PR than the homepage).
Let's see if it works, I will add "more" as described on the image above.

Google PR updates

This is just an update that the next google PR update should happen very soon.

Is it worth to continue submitting your blog to indexes?

Should you continue submitting your blog to indexes?

Is it worth to continue submitting your blog to indexes or directories? Once a blog achieves a certain PR (for example PR3 like this blog), that a question worth asking.
On the one hand, you want inbound links in order to increase your blogs ranking in the "eyes" of google. On the other hand, most of these blog directories or blog indexes, request that you link back to them in exchange for submitting. This can be tricky, especially if your posts appear on the homepage like on this blogspot blog.
You may end up linking to them from a PR3 webpage while they link back to your blog from a PR0 webpage. So, probably the best next steps to to try to improve your google PR without buying links, are:

1. Find blog directories that will link to you from PR3 or more webpages. That way you won't end up exchanging links with a low PR indexes.
2. Get inbound links without having to link back. This can be done by posting comments on high PR pages.
3. Be active in forums.
4. Post blogs on RSS feeds.

seniority.co.uk (not recommended)

Hello! I'm back and hopefully will stay around for a while. A long period since my last post, and I thought I'd share a fact I just found out.

I co-own a
gaming website since 2004. Back then, we added a "link exchange" page for the purpose of increasing our page rank by linking to related websites /indexes and receiving in return a link back.

5 years later (it was about time) I decided to start checking who is still linking back to us. Below is my first finding:
A UK based directory named seniority.co.uk removed our link. I tried to find out a way to contact the site owner and guess what, nothing under "contact us" actually leads to a way to contact them. By the way, their google page rank is 5... who know how many other sites were cheated by them.

Marketing SEO blogs

UPDATE: About a year later I checked this site again and I did see my blog listed there. However, there wasn't a real link to my blog, there was a redirected link. This means that when you mouse over the link it does not point directly to my blog, it first goes to an internal link on their database and after it redirects to my blog, so it is not a quality link for SEO... because of this I removed their link from my blog.

In return for listing your site, I ask for a small return favour. A link back to Bloggernity. Thanks.

Because of the reason stated below (the redirect) I decided to remove their link.

blog search directory
They show "link to your blog" after a search has been performed, but they disable your link. A click on your blog's tittle will open a new webpage and only then, they will redirect (http://www.bloggernity.com/cgi-bin/jump.cgi?ID=29847) to your blog... (two clicks are needed to get to your blog)

Recommendation: feasible

Blogrankings.com (Not Recommended)

I got a notification via email saying that my blog has been added, quote: Subject: Your URL has been added.
Please use the code below to link us.

In effect, none of the blogs I added to blogrankings.com were actually listed. Their email is a "no reply" email, any attempt to write them will not succeed. There is no way to contact them, not even through the "contact us" on their site! Be aware: This directory is a waste of time. They only add links with high PR (page rank) obviously to increase their own PR.

Recomendation: BAD

Blogwise.com (You Decide)

Your site has been added to the submission queue. Thank you for adding your site to Blogwise.
I filled in a "contact us" form in their site three times and got no answer...
-----
Finally had some correspondence with "S" from blogwise (I didn't ask permission to write his name) and although in his first email he was willing to add my blog "In any case, we're here and trying our best. I can't in fairness force your blog through the listings above others, but I can say that your blog is in the list, waiting to be added 'as soon as we possibly can'.", they eventually decided that this blog is not good enough to be listed in their directory.
The main reasons metioned were:
1. Posts are being re-edited: "you appear to be editing existing posts to update them" (which is a must because of the natue of my blog)
2. As he said: "Using a blog host like Blogspot also doesn't automatically qualify sites. So as I say, in my view you're not running a blog anyway and the site would be rejected"
In their favor I must say that unlike other directories, at least "S" took the time to eventually answer my emails. To be 100% fair, I must say that "S" may have been offended because I suggested that a part of the email he sent me was "copied & pasted" however, I made it clear that I had no intention to offend him.
"S", I invite you to leave a comment or to reply to my last email if you want.

Bloghub.com

My blog was added, but there is no direct link to it. After performing a search, the tittle and description of my blog appear as I wrote them in the submition process but there is no link to my blog yet. If you want to actually see my blog you have to click on a text link that says "visit this blog" and then click on an other link which is a redirection to my blog (http://www.bloghub.com/cgi-bin/jump.cgi?ID=16433)

There is a redirection to my blog (http://www.blogcatalog.com/out/blog-directories-reviews.html) which is not the best for search engines and page rank...
