Singapore's Booming Wine Sales.

Wine is booming in Singapore.

Demand is strong and ever growing due to a growing trend among local Singaporeans to appreciate the finer things in life as well as the large number of foreigners calling Singapore home. Wine imports have increased from 8.6 million litres in 2002 to 12.7 million litres in 2006. Overall an annual growth rate of 8% which is healthly.

Specialty retailers of wine are expanding rapidly such as the Densie Wine Shop which is opening its 15th store with plans to have one in each neighbourhood in the future. Vineyards Direct a specialist Australian wine retailer and CP Wines that supply French wines direct from the family vineyard are all meeting the needs of a new affluent Singapore.

This demand for wine should only increase as Singapore becomes increasingly cosmopolitan.

Singapore Business Past and Present

Singapore is a vibrant trading port for business.

These words apply in 2008 as much as they did in 1830. The town bustles with activity. What drew people here just under two hundred years ago is the same what brings people here today. It is a great place to do business.

Today I spent some time at the Asian Civilizations Musuem (www.acm.org.sg) with some interesting historical displays of old Singapore. If you are in Singapore for a few days it is well worth a quick visit as it is located right opposite the CBD (Raffles Place) and the story of Singapore as a trading port is well displayed.

Whilst the junks, opium dens and the British flag have been replaced with container ships, Starbucks and the Singapore flag, the soul of the city is the same.

This blog will cover some of the more interesting happenings on business in Singapore.
