Kelly Clarkson (music) is hitting the road this summer for one last round of shows behind her Grammy-winning album, 2004's "Breakaway," and tickets for most of the upcoming shows will hit the box office this weekend.
Saturday (4/22) on-sales are set for the tour's stops in West Palm Beach, FL; Tampa, FL; Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; Bristow, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Darien Center, NY; Hartford, CT; Mansfield, MA; Tinley Park, IL; Maryland Heights, MO; Noblesville, IN; Selma, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Marysville, CA; and Auburn, WA. Also, a Sunday (4/23) on-sale is set for tickets to Clarkson's performance in Mountain View, CA, and a Monday (4/24) on-sale is lined up for tickets to the tour's stop in Bonner Springs, KS.

Pearl Jam (music), whose new album lands in stores May 2, will back the set with a late-spring/early summer tour, and tickets for a number shows go on sale this weekend.
Saturday (4/22) on-sales are scheduled for tickets to the group's performances in Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, San Diego and Santa Barbara, and a Sunday on-sale is in place for those to a two-night stand in San Francisco.
Tickets for many other upcoming Pearl shows are on sale now.

More shows have turned up for Madonna (music)'s "Confessions" tour, tickets for which will hit the box office during the next few days.
Friday (4/21) on-sales are set for the Material Girl's third Los Angeles-area concert and a second performance in San Jose, while tickets for her second night in Las Vegas are scheduled for release Saturday (4/22). Meanwhile, Monday (4/24) on-sales are lined up for repeat engagements in Boston and Philadelphia.
Tickets for a number of previously announced stops on the tour are already sold out, but a few remain in some markets.

Rascal Flatts (music), whose latest album will debut at No. 1 on the forthcoming Billboard 200 chart, are gearing up for more roadwork behind the set.
Tickets hit the market Friday (4/21) for the group's stop in Indianapolis, and on Saturday (4/22) for upcoming gigs in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fresno and Atlanta.
Tickets for many other upcoming Rascal Flatts shows are on sale now.

INXS (music) recently rolled out dates for the next leg of the group's first tour with new singer J.D. Fortune at the helm, and tickets go on sale this weekend for many of the newly announced shows.
Tickets hit the box office on Friday (4/21) for the tour's stops in Seattle and Pala, CA, and on Saturday (4/22) for shows in Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; Reno, NV; San Diego; Las Vegas; and Phoenix, as well as a Canadian date in Kelowna, British Columbia.
A Sunday (4/23) on-sale is planned for the group's concert in Berkeley, CA.

Chamber plans Kelly Clarkson Convention 2006

Organizers plan for the Kelly Clarkson Convention 2006 to be the first of an annual convention to benefit the Kelly Clarkson National Scholarship Fund for the Arts. The event will consist of two major attractions: a convention-type layout of merchandise and information about Kelly Clarkson and her career, with guest speakers and musical guests, and an outdoor carnival midway with rides, games, prizes, refreshments and activities.KCC 2006 will be held June 22-25 at Clarkson’s alma mater, Burleson High School:F 4-10 p.m. June 22, carnival midway F 4 p.m. to midnight, June 23, carnival midway, inflatable entertainment and merchandise salesF 10 a.m. to midnight, June 24F Noon to 8 p.m. June 2Admission to the grounds is free. The inflatables will accommodate both adults and children and offer slides, bounce houses and obstacle courses. There will also be a rock wall for climbing during the event. Texan Kelly Clarkson won the first series of American Idol in 2002 with a staggering 7 million votes, securing a 57 per cent majority.
The 23-year-old was signed immediately by 19 Entertainment's Simon Fuller, creator of American Idol and one of the most influential names in music.
The result was Kelly Clarkson's album, "Thankful", which became one of the biggest selling debut albums to hit US shelves that year. The title track went straight in to the US charts at Number 1 and over a million copies were shipped in the first week.Kelly then returned two years later with her eagerly anticipated album 'Breakaway' on July 11th 2005.
Where "Thankful" was the perfect introduction, "Breakaway" defined Kelly as an artist in her own right. Co-writing six of the tracks, and working with Avril Lavigne, Ben Moody and David Hodges formerly of Evanescence amongst others, the record was a defiant step on from her debut.
"I had a lot more experience coming into the second album," Clarkson says. "I knew exactly what I wanted and who I wanted to work with." Released in America in November 2004, "Breakaway" has already sold close to 2 million copies.
"Since U Been Gone" was the first single to be released from the album. Upon its release in America, the track was the number 1 most added song to Top 40 radio. On Monday GMTV revealed that "Since U Been Gone" had made the top 10 for this year's UK Record of the Year, securing her both fame and a huge fanbase on either side of the Atlantic.

Fox's "American Idol" proved it could make regular folks into stars quicker than you could say "'Star Search' was, like, so 1987." In the show's first season, personable Kelly Clarkson won a million-dollar recording contract from RCA. Her rendition of the specially-crafted American Idol ballad, "A Moment Like This," topped the Billboard singles chart after just one week. Her 2003 debut, "Thankful," had critics dubbing Clarkson "Christina Aguilera: the sequel," thanks to the album's successful first single, "Miss Independent," which Aguilera co-wrote.
Clarkson's latest disc, "Breakaway" (2004), went to No. 3 on the Billboard Album Charts on the strength of the singles "Since U Been Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes."

Clarkson tells the magazine the secret behind her hit songs like "Since You've Been Gone," saying, "I tend to write on the darker side. I like songs when you can actually hear the person cry. It's free therapy."
The church-goer says she has no problem with drinking because "Jesus drank. It came straight from the Bible that he had a glass of wine. Actually, I don't know if actually says he drank it, but whatever." Clarkson also embraces nudity when "it's tastefully done."
The singer's sophomore album "Breakaway" has sold more than 5 million copies and has spent over a year on the charts. The "Blender" issue featuring her hits newsstands Tuesday.

Kelly Clarkson moves way above and beyond 'American Idol'

IT'S LOOKING increasingly like Kelly Clarkson might be the only "American Idol" who will still matter five years down the road.
Ruben Studdard, the winner of the second season of the reality TV show, came and went. Clay Aiken, runner-up on season two, is apparently lost in "Winter Wonderland," banking on his annual holiday show and headed for a premature career on the county fair circuit.
Fantasia, the 2004 champ, became the first "Idol" winner not to hit No. 1 with a debut record and then turned in a spotty performance as an opener on Kanye West's Bay Area show earlier this month. And, really, it's too early to make a forecast on 2005 "Idol" Carrie Underwood.
On the other hand, the 23-year-old Clarkson — crowned the first "Idol" back in 2002 — is watching as her popularity explodes. Her sophomore effort, "Breakaway," is a runaway hit that features a staggering four hit singles.
But she's not just getting more popular; she's getting better, as well. In doing so, she's accomplishing something no other "Idol" contestant has even been close to managing: beginning to transcend the show.
That's exactly what the crowd witnessed Wednesday night at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. Clarkson came across every bit like a legitimate pop star with a long future in front of her, not some novelty act watching as the clock ticks on her 15 minutes of fame.
The star nearly packed the mammoth hockey arena, drawing a bigger crowd than those turning out to see the Keith Urban and Kanye West concerts earlier this month there. Of course, it didn't hurt that the singer had given away many of the tickets.
Clarkson didn't believe that fans got their money's worth at her September show at the UC Berkeley Greek Theatre, the last gig she played before being diagnosed with bronchitis and was forced to postpone many dates on her tour. She decided to admit those folks for free to Wednesday's concert.
That was nice of her, especially given that the promoter of both shows — the East Bay-based Another Planet — says that fans didn't complain about the Berkeley concert. But, apparently, Clarkson is a little less biased than most fans.
"If you were here at the last show," Clarkson told the San Jose crowd early in the concert, "I owe you a formal apology for the crap you had to listen to."
All apologies should be as enjoyable as the amends the vocalist made Wednesday. In all, it was a much more enjoyable show than the last time Clarkson played the HP Pavilion, when she blew away the headliner, Aiken, back in 2004.
The concert opened in appropriate fashion with a recorded version of AC/DC's "Shook Me All Night Long" — because you just can't think of Clarkson without drawing obvious comparisons to Angus Young — and thousands of young girls wearing Clarkson sweatbands, clutching Clarkson programs and waving Clarkson glow sticks rose from their seats to greet their "Idol." (Note to teenage boys: The girl-to-guy ratio at this show seemed to be roughly 10-to-1.)
Although she has covered all kinds of musical styles, from rowdy country to stylish soul, she obviously wants to be thought of primarily as a rocker, thus the AC/DC intro and the Aerosmith tank-top that she wore at the start of the show. Likewise, she came out rocking and tore through the new album's "Walk Away" and "Miss Independent,'" from 2003's "Thankful."
It was the last night of the tour, and in front of the biggest crowd she has performed for in the United States, Clarkson certainly rose to the occasion. Backed by a solid six-piece rock band, the vocalist mourned her way through the "Breakaway"-track "I Hate Myself for Losing You" and 10,000 young girls sang along like they'd all been there themselves.
She then hit the crowd with a fiery take on the "Thankful"-tune "Low," which is exactly the type of Cher-iffic '80s-rock power ballad that could be huge on country radio these days. Showing her versatility, she turned to her more soulful side for "The Trouble With Love Is," the lead track on her debut album, and returned with the Evanescence-style "Breakaway"-rocker "Addicted."
The main set closed with a revved-up version of the smash-hit "Since U Been Gone," during which Clarkson's road crew came out dressed in San Jose Sharks jerseys and proceeded to have a hockey-style brawl on the stage. Clarkson had to stop singing a few times and laugh at her crew's antics during the song.
Fortunately, these fans knew all the words to the tune and could pick up the slack. And, fortunately, there really wasn't much slack to pick up. Clarkson proved once again with this concert that the first "American Idol" is still the best.
